Inventor 11 Intermediate Modeling is the second in a series of courses on Inventor from ASCENT. The goal of this class is to build on the skills acquired in the Inventor Introduction to Solid Modeling course to take students to a higher level of productivity in Inventor.
In this course we consider various approaches to part and assembly design and emphasize useful strategies. Advanced part modeling techniques covered here includes advanced lofts, advanced sweeps and coils. We also present some of Inventor’s most powerful techniques for assembly modeling, including the creation of iParts and iAssemblies to define multiple versions of a part or assembly.

Other advanced features covered in the class are aimed at increased efficiency: iFeatures for frequently needed design elements, iMates to automate assembly constraints, projects for managing files, etc. With an understanding of these tools, students can begin to streamline the design process and shape Inventor to their own uses.

Topics include:
  2D and 3D sketching techniques
Advanced geometry creation tools (lofts, sweeps, coils)
  Creating and editing basic surfaces
Importing surfaces & surface repair tools
Using iMates, iFeatures, iParts, and iAssemblies to work efficiently with parts and assemblies
Using pattern, mirror, and copy techniques to duplicate components in an assembly
Working with assemblies to create accurate Bill of Materials
Advanced Drawing tools (hole tables, revision tables and tags, tables for iParts, surfaces in a drawing views)
Using the Frame Generator to create members in a structural frame work
Advanced file Management techniques (Design Assistant, Pack and Go, Purging Old Files, Copying designs using Autodesk Vault)
  Importing and exporting data
Adding notes with the Engineer’s Notebook
